Spring Break=Love

Good news, friends!  I got accepted into the Caroline Summer Institute in Auditory Verbal Therapy!  I also received a $500 scholarship to go!  Woohoo!

Today has just been a happy day.  I wore a really cute dress today and got tons of compliments.
I met the cute, new music teacher at the middle school.

I have a laundry list of things to prepare for though:
-Work
-Grad school
-Prepping for the CSI
-EIPA this summer
-Middle school field trip to ENCSD

In other news, we're on Spring Break!  It's been such a wonderful, wonderful break so far.  Melissa and I went up to Washington, D.C. for the weekend to stay with Jessica.  It was super nice.  We left Thursday evening around 5:30pm and got there around 10pm Thursday night.  We stopped at the Noodles & Company in Richmond, VA for dinner which we've decided is our new favorite Noodles & Co!  Our quasi-waiter seemed to fancy Melissa and was just pretty fun to talk with.  I also got a free rice krispy treat so that's always a win!  Friday we went to Jefferson Memorial and to Chinatown.  That evening we watched The Emperor's New Groove too.  Such a good movie.  We ate at this place called Wok n Roll for lunch and went to Bus Boys & Poets for dinner.  Bus Boys and Poets was super nice.  I was slightly bummed because after we left I realized they had ASL night the same evening we were there.  Oh well.

Saturday was probably one of my favorite days.  We went to Potbelly's for lunch and then headed to the National Zoo.  It was such a beautiful day.  We did a lot of walking, but it was well worth it.  After the National Zoo we all got a drink--Jess and I got Slurpees from the 7 Eleven and Melissa got some coffee from Starbucks.  Then we headed to the metro to get to Gallaudet University!  What a beautiful campus!  I'm SO glad I finally made it to Gallaudet and with two of my best friends.  A girl in the visitor's center gave us a map and told us about some landmarks to check out.  We walked around the campus and took tons of pictures.  I think I could really see myself there one day!  We'll see.  :)  After the visit to Gallaudet, we headed back to Chinatown to have dinner at Hard Rock Cafe.  The service was so-so, but the food was delicious.  While we waited we went next door to Ford's Theater--where Abraham Lincoln was killed.  Across the street was the house he died in and we went there after dinner and took a picture.  Ironic, I know.  We had been walking and doing so much that day so needless to say we were quite ready to get back to Jessica's house and just veg out and watch some of the NCAA games.

Sunday was Easter!  I went to church with Jessica at District Church and met some of her friends from Elon.  After church, we went to Giants (a grocery store) to pick up the stuff for the "Resurrection Rolls" I'd been talking about all weekend.  We went back to the house to meet up with Melissa and then headed to The Coupe for brunch.  Another delicious meal!  We came back after brunch and watched some of the NCAA games, worked, and napped.  Jessica's roommates came back later in the evening so we all kind of started perking up when they got back.  For dinner we went to this pizza place called Red Rocks Pizzeria.  We had passed it on our way to The Coupe and decided to go there for dinner.  The pizza was SO delicious!

After dinner we decided to make the resurrection rolls I had been talking about and chocolate chip cookies Jessica had bought.  We had such a fun time making the rolls and got some great videos and pictures in the process too!  It was really a great 'last night together in D.C. hanging out' activity.  While the rolls weren't totally perfect, they were still pretty good!

Monday morning Melissa and I headed back to NC.  We stopped in Chester, VA to get some breakfast at Cracker Barrel.  We left about 6:45AM and got back about 11:45AM.  All in all....it was a fantastic trip and I can't wait for the next adventure!

Yesterday, I met with my partner for my online project.  We got a good start on our work, but after lunch at Noodles & Company we both had kind of checked out so we'll meet again on Thursday to hopefully finish most of it.  I also had dinner with Martha, her Mom, and Eliza yesterday at Chile Bomba in downtown Raleigh.  It was quite delicious and I enjoyed meeting Marth'a mom.

What else have I not reported on...
-I did a 5K at home in Fay about 2 weekends ago with my mom's office.  I don't think it was quite a 5K, but it was still fun.  I got to see bff Hyzer, but she's pretty busy so I didn't get to spend too much time with her at home.  I hung out with Jessica some while I was at home too.  I got to see my godparents too which was nice because I hardly ever see them.  We went to the Flea market and Sandpiper.
-I got my hair re-twisted.  I was a little stressed about it at first because the stylist had totally forgotten my appointment.  I still think she should've given me a discount, but whatevz.  It worked out and I didn't have to wake up at o'dark thirty which is always a plus.  My mom came up that weekend too and we went to Dame's Chicken & Waffles for dinner.  She'd been wanting to go so we finally made it there.  That following Sunday we went down to New Bern for a few hours to celebrate Tricia's birthday.  She had a dinner at Texas Roadhouse, but Mom, Ms Angie, and I ate at Morgan's before which was delicious!  I saw a lot of the family at church too.
-Ricky and I hung out not too long ago.  We were supposed to go to Greensboro to see Deborah, but decided against it.  Instead we went to Gold Park in Hillsborough and took some awesome pics and made a new first--little Avery.  Haha.  That child was way too friendly, but sweet.  She came up to us at the park and pretty much started telling us about her life.  haha.
-I finished The Hunger Games and Where are the Children and am starting Loves Music, Loves to Dance
-Sabrina's birthday was last Thursday so we went out to lunch at Rigsbey's.  I made her a cute little Easter/birthday basket
-I got a guy's number from the Mexican restaurant I frequent
-Had the last straw from "A"

Coming up next.....
-5K this Saturday!
-Hopefully finishing these projects for grad school this week
-Workshops and lots of professional development coming up
-Field trip to ENCSD

I'm trying to get back into working out.  I went for a walk today to get some necessities from Food Lion and to SECU.  I need to cut back on my eating out.  That's my new goal for the month.

Anyway, I need to get on these projects.  Wish me luck.  ;)
